Emirates participates in Global Forum on Technology in London

 

The UAE has participated in the Global Forum on Technology, organized by the British Institute of Technology and E-commerce, at London Dorchester Hotel. Large number of economists, technology specialists, researchers and media men has attended the Forum.

Lt. Colonel Saif Ruqait Al Ghafli, Police Attaché at the UAE Embassy in London, in his opening speech, has reviewed the strategic vision of the UAE economy in general and Abu Dhabi Emirate in particular, by the year 2030. The strategy was developed by the government in collaboration with the private sector and it had identified priorities for a safe community and open economy.

Lt. Colonel has spoken about the development of small and medium businesses sector, which plays a remarkable role in the economies of the G7. The development of small and medium businesses sector in the UAE will reduce the risks that the country economy may face. It encourages innovation and creation of new job opportunities.

"The UAE economy, which depends on oil, grows rapidly with the increase in oil prices. But the government encourages diversification of sectors other than the oil sector", added Al Ghafli.

"We need to share technology at global level and use it for our and other partners benefit. The government seeks to create job opportunities of high standard and with great attention to women participation. All the country legislations and economic policies are intended to develop economy and work environment", added Al Ghafli.

"The government has identified nine areas to develop the social, economic and political future of the UAE. These include big private sector, strong economy based on knowledge, transparency, and development of international relations of joint cooperation, best exploitation of the country resources and maintaining the country values, culture and heritage", added Al Ghafli.

He has concluded his speech saying "The desired aim is now under formation. There are ten big development projects which contribute to this change. Their cost is more than USD 200 billion. One of them is Khalifa City, which it costs around USD 40 billion. It is expected to be completed in 2030.
