Ambassador Obaid Salem Al Zaabi, Permanent Representative of the UAE at the United Nations (UN) and other international organizations, met in Geneva with the Ministry of Interior’s delegation, participating in the World Congress on Juvenile Justice recently organized by the Swiss Government. The UAE delegation was headed by Major Dr. Mohammed Khalifa Al Ali, Director of the Ministry of Interior’s Child Protection Centre.

Ambassador Al Zaabi welcomed the delegation, praising the efforts of the MoI and its keenness to attend purposeful international conventions. He reiterated the importance of building the competencies of young leaders, and providing them with the necessary skills and expertise in support of the efforts aimed at elevating the image of the UAE, as one of the safest and most secure countries in the world, and improving the quality of life for the UAE citizens and residents.

He said: “Thanks to the support of the higher leadership, the initiatives undertaken by the UAE have been highly acclaimed and recognized by numerous accredited international organizations, authorities and bodies in Geneva.”

H.E Obaid Al Zaabi listened to a briefing presented by Major Mohamed Al Ali, highlighting the achievements and initiatives of the Higher Committee for Child Protection at the Ministry of Interior. The committee, chaired by Major General Dr. Nasser Lakhrebani Al Nuaimi, Secretary General of the Office of HH Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, includes in its membership a number of governmental and local bodies working in the field of child protection.

The meeting was attended by First Lieutenant Ahmed Al Bloushi, In-charge of Strategy and Development Unit; Social Care Specialist Ruqiya Abdo Sahyef; and Specialist Marwa Al Shehhi from the Juvenile Care Center in Al Mafraq.
