Traffic week to focus on wrong overtaking
The gulf traffic week campaign to be held from 8-14 next month will focus on the practice of wrong overtaking by motorists particularly on highways where accidents are mostly fatal.
Colonel Gaith Hassan al Zaabi, director of traffic department at the Abu Dhabi police said that the preparations for the gulf traffic week under the slogan wrong overtaking kills were on in the UAE and other gulf countries.
The campaign aims at creating awareness among the motorists in the gulf countries about the seriousness of wrongful overtaking as the statistics shows most of the accidents occur due to this wrong practice.
He said that his department is preparing a strategic plan to reduce road accidents by five percent this year. The plan will be implemented in cooperation with the traffic departments of all the emirates.
