Strict traffic safety measures to be imposed
The Traffic Police in Abu Dhabi issue about 60 tickets daily against motorist jumping the red signal according to Colonel Ghaith Al Zaabi, Director of the Traffic Police in the Capital.
Surveillance cameras caught 10,950 motorists jumping the red signals from October 2005 to April 2006.he affirmed that more stringent measures would be enforced against red light jumpers .according to the proposed federal traffic law motorists involved in jumping red light will be fined dirham’s 2000 and get 12 black points. A break down had showed that December 2005 registered the highest t offense with traffic patrols booking 2,941 motorists.
Around 2047 tickets were issued each for October and November, 1792 for January, 2095 for February and 2074 for March.
Abu Dhabi roads have 110 cameras and plans to install more. He added.
