Smart cards for sponsors
Under the directives from Lt.Gen.Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Minister of Interior, the Abu Dhabi naturalization and residency department will issue smart cards for sponsors by the year end.
Once these electronic cards are issued sponsors will no longer be asked to provide identity documents such as passports when ever they want to apply for new visas or for renewal of residency permits, said Col.Saeed Al Suwaidi, Director General of ADNRD
The new card will ease the application procedure as there will be a single document that will be known as sponsor's card.
The card will be valid for three years and will be a time saving one as several transactions will be completed within a short time said Al Suwaidi.
