The Saeed Society to Reduce Traffic Accidents will be hosting the first Collective Iftar banquet for people with special needs on Saturday, July 12 at the Shangri-La hotel in Abu Dhabi; as part the UAE celebrations to mark the Zayed Humanitarian Day that is celebrated on Ramadan 19 of each year, in a tribute to the founding father of the UAE, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.
Brigadier Eng. Hussein Ahmed Al Harithi, Director of Traffic and Patrols Directorate at Abu Dhabi Police and Chairman of Saaed Society, noted that the collective Iftar banquet for people with special needs aligns with the spirit of the holy month and the values of goodness and philanthropy established by the higher leadership, to provide humanitarian and charitable support to the needy within the UAE and around the world.
He also explained that Saeed Society chose this humanitarian mission in order to help this segment of society overcome disability in its various forms and to engage them in society as efficient and productive members who have equal opportunities to develop their talents and achieve their aspirations in various fields of life, just like other individuals.
Moreover, Al Harithi indicated that the Collective Iftar program includes an array of events featuring a10-minute short documentary film about the achievements of Saeed Society and the Traffic and Patrols Directorate during 2013, in addition to poem recitations.
