Road accidents claimed               873 lives last year

Road accidents in the country claimed 873 lives and injured more than 10,000 people last year

 A total of 739 accidents were reported during the year recording an increase of 2.6percentage,compared to the previous year.

 Nationals represented the majority in the fatality list with a total of 282 out of 873.

 In Abu Dhabi , a  total of 3,466 accidents occurred claiming 332 lives. The main reasons behind the accidents according to officials were mainly due to collision ,overturning and not adhering to traffic rules.

 The officials expressed concern over the rise of fatalities due to road accidents  that are mainly from the younger groups.

 Authorities are developing nation wide strategy to improve road safety .a technical committee have been set up to study for initiating the strategy which will make the countries roads safer.
