National campaign for safety awareness to take off from 25th Feb.
Mass rally at 10 am from Hilton to Marina Mall will mark the opening of the campaign
A National campaign to create traffic safety awareness will be launched on February 25th at 10 am with a mass rally to be held from behind Hilton hotel at corniche which will terminate at the Al Marina Mall where the opening ceremony of the campaign and exhibition will be at 10.30. The theme of the campaign is “our safety is our responsibility”.
The campaign is being held under the Patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak, Chair person of the woman’s union and is organized by the Ministry of Interior and Emirates traffic safety society with participation from the Government and Private organizations.
A press conference was held at the woman’s union auditorium yesterday to announce the campaign programs. The press was briefed by Brigadier Hassan Al Housani, the Director of Public relations and Mass Media administration at the General headquarters of Abu Dhabi Police, and Secretary General of ETSS along with the representatives from the woman’s union, Abu Dhabi Islamic bank and UPP establishment who are the two main sponsors of the event.
The campaign which will go on till the third of March will be conducted through out the United Arab Emirates. Many exhibitions, symposiums, lectures, distribution of safety literatures, traffic safety classes will be conducted at various places during the campaign period.
An organizing committee was formed to implement the programs and achieve the campaign objectives. The organizing committee includes representatives from Emirates media, Public relations department, Traffic department, Ministry of Higher education and other Community representatives.
Brigadier Al Housani thanked Her Highness for her Patronage and concern for the traffic safety of the people of emirates, especially woman and children. He said that this year campaign will be concentrating more on the families and children to spread the message of traffic safety.
Brigadier Al Housani also thanked His Highness Lt.Gen. Sheikh Saif Bin Zayed Al Nahyan for his support and initiatives in not only organizing this event but also for setting up a permanent establishment to carry forward the traffic safety initiatives through ETSS.
