National Security Drive Begins
Week long campaign aims to expel illegals from the country
A weeklong National Campaign to round up and deport illegal immigrants was launched yesterday by the Interior Ministry during the ceremony at the Marina Mall.
Attended by thousands of Schoolchildren and Ministry Officials, the second National Campaign for Security Awareness with this year’s theme, ‘Legal residents a Safer Society’ began with the march from the Hilton hotel on the Corniche
The march also included the Abu Dhabi Police band, Patrol vehicles from various departments of the Ministry and a team of mounted Police
The School children sang National songs in tune with the Police band as they marched towards the mall.
Major General Mohammad Khamis Al Junaibi, Deputy Director General of the Abu Dhabi Police, Inaugurated the Campaign.
Others attending the ceremony included Brigadier Hadher Khalaf Al Muhairi, Director General of the directorate of residency and naturalization, Brigadier Abdul Rehman Saleh Al Shalwah, Director General of the Ministries Criminal department and Brigadier Hasan Al Housani, Director of the Department of Public Relations and Mass Media Administration and other Senior Officials of various departments responsible for this Mass Campaign.
A documentary film on the Ministries drive against the illegal residents was also screened
Major General Al Junaibi also opened an exhibition featuring the efforts of various departments in resolving the problems of illegal immigrants.
Literatures in various languages were distributed to create awareness among people regarding the dangers posed by the illegals and their activities. Other programs include mass media campaign, seminars, sports activities, and competitions for students and also TV programs.
Marking, the Occasion. H H Lt.Gen. Sheikh Saif Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, The Minister of Interior said The UAE was one of the safest Countries in the World.
He said that the ministry was keen to maintain this through a clear-cut strategy aimed at boosting the Public participation in maintaining the National Security.
