The Civil Defense and Emergency Teams at the Abu Dhabi Police carried out a successful mock drill to extinguish a ‘fire’ that broke out in the first floor of the building, which houses the ICT Department, the Vehicles and Drivers Licensing Department and Vehicles Leasing. This drill aims to assess their readiness to deal with accidents and reduce response time for emergency calls to just four minutes.

This drill is in pursuance of the UAE's efforts to ensure the safety of lives and property and enhance training efficiency and readiness through scenarios and drills with a view to achieve the coveted goals.

According to the training scenario, two people sustained various injuries. They were evacuated by the emergency teams of the Licensing Department and the Civil Defense respectively. The paramedics administered first aid to the injured and provided them with medical care. The fire crews managed to extinguish the fire after taking the necessary measures to prevent it from spreading to the entire building. It is worth mentioning that the emergency teams managed to evacuate staff members and customers from the building in record time, before the arrival of Civil Defense teams.

As per the scenario, the Abu Dhabi Police’s Operations Room received a tip-off on the outbreak of the ‘fire’.  As soon as the fire alarm sounded, emergency teams evacuated the building pending the arrival of the competent police entities, the Civil Defense and backup entities in record time and immediately handled the incident.

The drill was carried out in pursuance of the Environment, Health and Safety Policy at the Abu Dhabi Police GHQ. It also complements the activities and services provided by Abu Dhabi Police, as well as the procedures and programs aimed at maintaining the environment, preserving natural resources and protecting staff members.
