Judicial Department to Hold a Workshop Introducing Victim Affairs Office Tasks
The Victims Affairs Office of the Crisis and Disasters Management Department of the Central Operations Department at Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters recently held a workshop at the headquarter of Abu Dhabi’s Judicial Department with the aim of introducing the office, its roles and strategic plans.
Major Raed Ali Al Muhairi, Director of the Victim Affairs Office, participated in presenting the scientific material of the workshop, along with a number of other officers, in the presence of Judicial Authority members and public prosecutors.
Major Al Muhairi welcomed the audience, and pointed out that the workshop aims to clarify the office’s role in the event of major accidents, how they should handle the victims’ relatives, and explain the international procedures and protocols of identifying victims of disasters.
He stressed that since its foundation in 2009, the office has been keen to follow the latest global updates in this field of work and to simulate the best international practices. He pointed out that the office has recently joined a global steering group of INTERPOL to help identify victims of disasters. This is a notable achievement, as the UAE is the Middle Eastern country in this group that consists of only 12 countries worldwide.
Major Al Muhairi added that the workshops organized by the office aim to introduce the efforts of the office; to explain the infinite possibilities available in the levels of associations, institutions, and partners at the state level; and to promote mutual cooperation in the relevant fields.
