HCT to offer specialized higher diploma 
Programs for Abu Dhabi Police
The Higher College of technology within the framework of continued cooperation with the general headquarters of Abu Dhabi police has offered specialized Higher Diploma programs for the Police personnel at the ADMC starting from September 2006.
The programs includes basic and advanced courses in paramedics of which the total duration will be of four years ,one year for the basic and three years for the advanced course.
The Police sponsored trainees will have the opportunity to obtain bachelors degree after the completion of the course and will be eligible to be employed as paramedics. The primary objective of the course is to prepare the trainees to work with emergency services, to provide pre hospital care to victims of accidents .they also may work on transportation and related services for non emergency functions as well.
The courses will cover science of paramedics, emergency skills, clinical practice and exposure to internship with national and international paramedic institutions.
Other program to be offered is a four year Higher diploma in safety engineering .this program prepare the trainees to become safety engineers after their graduation and will be eligible to conduct safety related inspections, hazard analysis and also make appropriate safety rules and regulations.
The course also includes English, mathematics, fundamentals of energy, technology, hazard identification, material science, fire prevention and protection, radiation safety, safety protection and inspection. There will be work placement training along with the course.
Dr. Tayeb Kamali, vice chancellor of the Higher College of technology appreciated the cooperation with the General Headquarters of Abu Dhabi Police and affirmed that the HCT will continue to strengthen the ties with the Headquarters by supporting its efforts in creating highly skilled manpower for maintaining a high standard in its performances.
Colonel Mohamad Al Awadi Yihia Al Minhali, Director of the Human resources development of the Headquarters of Abu Dhabi Police, said that this initiative comes as per the directives of HH Lt.Gen.Sheikh Saif Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Interior.
He also said that HCT is an ideal choice, given its excellent reputation and confidence the headquarters has about this leading higher educational institution.
