The Ministry of Interior’s council, hosted by Mufleh Ayed Al Ahbabi at his residence in the city of Al Ain, tackled “the role of the public’s cooperation with the police to ensure security”. Participants at the council stressed the need for concerted efforts amongst the various relevant authorities to promote awareness amongst the various segments of society about the different types of crimes that may compromise the security and stability of society, and the need to nurture an educated and conscious generation, in order to avoid all kinds of crimes in the future.

The council is part of the awareness councils organized by Law Respect Culture Bureau, in cooperation with the Security Media Department, at the General Directorate of Security Support at the General Secretariat of the Office of HH Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, and was moderated by media figure Khalifa Al Kaabi.

The participants also called for promoting he culture of reporting crime. They also highlighted the efforts and services offered by the Comprehensive Police Stations, the Community Police and the Security Patrols, and their leading role in maintaining security and stability of society around-the-clock.

They also stressed the need for parents to supervise their children’s internet use, especially on social media. They called for increasing efforts to curb cyber crimes and protect society from their dangers. They also noted that protecting community members is a shared responsibility between the family and community, with the family being the first line of defense to protect children against all potential dangers, followed by school, which is considered their second family.

Participants at the council also emphasized the need to address the problem of begging and beggars, which increases during the holy month of Ramadan. They said that begging is a serious problem and alien to the UAE society, urging everyone to cooperate in order to eradicate this objectionable behavior in all its forms and manifestations.
