On the sidelines of Intersec 2016, the world's leading and largest trade fair for Security, Safety and Fire Protection held in Dubai, Major General Jassem Muhammad Al Marzouqui, Civil Defense General Commander-in-chief at the Ministry of Interior, met with Donald Bliss, Vice President of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) and Drew Azara, NFPA Regional Director. During the meeting, both parties discussed ways to enhance cooperation between the Association and the UAE Civil Defense, with the aim of improving and upgrading joint action.
Major General Al Marzouqui underlined the importance of developing scientific research processes and supporting creativity and innovation, in line with the directives of the UAE Government. For his part, Donald Bliss stressed the readiness of NFPA to provide support and training in all areas of fire fighting, rescue, prevention, and fire safety, in order to achieve the highest levels of protection of lives and properties.
On the same note, Brigadier General Mohammad Naseeb Al Nuaimi, Director General of Fire, Protection and Safety Affairs, praised the Association’s efforts in the field of training. “The NFPA has provided accreditation for 16 engineers and 44 inspectors amongst the Civil Defense’s staff members at the countrywide level as certified experts in the field of prevention and fire safety,” he pointed out. In conclusion, he noted that the Association has lauded these initiatives, which are a first of their kind in the Arab World and GCC countries.
