The Ministry of Interior organized a workshop to update the Police sector strategic plan for 2014-2016, within the overall strategic development project of the Ministry of Interior and according to the requirements of the Federal Government. The workshop was organized by the Directorate General of Strategy and Performance Development at the Ministry of Interior, in Al Raha Beach Hotel in Abu Dhabi.

Lt. General Saif Abdullah Al Sha’far, Undersecretary at the Ministry of Interior attended the workshop, in the presence of Lt. General Dahi Khalfan Tamim, Commander in Chief of Dubai Police.

This workshop complements a series of workshops aiming to update the strategic plan of the Police sector in the Ministry of Interior, and to develop indicators for the initiatives, set objectives of strategic indicators and classify services and their indicators.

Lt. Gen. Saif Al Sha’far said that the achievements made by the ministry through implementing the 2011 – 2013 strategic plan, and the accomplishments which will be realized after updating the 2014-2016 ministry strategic plan within the overall strategic development project of the Ministry of Interior according to the requirements of the Federal Government, require us to multiply our efforts in order to enhance the security and stability of the citizens and residents in the UAE.

He stressed on his keen to transform the strategy, its goals and values into a real implemented lifestyle in order to achieve the 2021 UAE vision, enhance the security and stability in our society, reduce crime rates, contribute in realizing justice in a way that ensures the public’s trust in the Police work, preserve values based on the highest levels of integrity and honesty at all times and to protect human rights and justice through providing fair and refined services for all categories. 

He added: “The strategy pursued by the Ministry of Interior achieved good results, and we harvested its fruits after the ministry gained several local and international awards, which reflects the level of development reached by the ministry. The achievements are the result of the Higher Leadership’s directives and its intensive follow-up to develop the governmental performance in general, the capacity and effectiveness of the police apparatus thanks to the outstanding strength and efficiency of its members, and its full faith in the need to provide a suitable and stable working environment and improved services for the public.”
 
Concluding his speech, he expressed his wishes that all of our efforts will be successful, and that we realize our Higher Leadership’s aspirations in order to transform the UAE into one of the best countries in the world at the security and safety levels.

The workshop was also attended by: Major General Khalifa Hareb Al Khaili, Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry of the Interior for Resources and Support Services, along with other police leaders and general directors, and Colonel Muhammed Hamid bin Dalmouj Al Dahiri, Strategy and Performance Development Director General; and Colonel Aziz Hammoud Al Amiri, Head of the Strategic and Development Performance Department in the Ministry of Interior, and chiefs of sections and officers of the directorate.

Colonel Aziz Al Amiri gave a presentation on the methodology for updating the ministry’s strategic plan, which comes in harmony with the Federal Government's strategies and continues the process of development and updating initiated by the ministry in 2010. The ministry is currently working on updating its 2014 -2016 strategy.
