    upon motorists to slow down while approaching traffic signals

     

    ADP Directorate of Traffic and Patrols urges drivers to slow down and be attentive near intersections and traffic signals within the framework of its campaign under the slogan “Eid is a season of happiness but traffic accident causes sadness”, which has been launched to curb accidents during the last ten days of Ramadan and Eid Al Fitr holiday.

    Lt. Colonel Mohammad Dhahi Sultan, Head of Traffic Investigation Section at the Directorate said “Accidents that take place near traffic signals and intersections are most dangerous accidents which entail deaths and severe injuries. Jumping red signal has led to the death of 8 persons and 19 persons were severely injured during the last 8 months, from 01 January to 31 August”. 

    He has warned motorist against jumping traffic signal in the heat of Eid celebrations. Violation of jumping red signal entails a fine up to Dh800, confiscation of vehicle for two weeks and 8 traffic points.

    Such violations will be spotted by cameras deployed at intersections and remote surveillance technologies. Violating vehicles will be spotted by photography and video cameras round the clock. On the other hand The Directorate of Traffic and patrols and within its traffic safety plan has intensified its military and undercover traffic patrols at markets, shopping centers and places of crowding in Abu Dhabi in coincidence with people preparations for Eid Al Fitr celebrations.

    He has urged drivers to cooperate with traffic police elements on internal and external roads, park their vehicles in designated spots, not blocking the parked vehicles and not stopping at road sides so as not to impede traffic flow.
