A gang stealing luxurious cars caught by police
UAE police have caught an international gang that steals luxurious cars snd smuggue them from some European countries into UAE with the aim of re-exporting them abroad.The gang members were using two companies,one for trade and the other for car spare parts, as a façade to conceal their criminal activities.
Colonel Yousuf Mousa Al Naqbi, Director of CID at Sharjah Police stated that criminal invetigation bodies have recently been monitoring suspicious activity in which many persons of Isian and Europpean nationalities were engaged. They have been working in the used cars and spare parts business at the Industrial Area. Using false documents, some of them have been working as brokers to clear dealings and pass some shipments coming through UAE ports inside containers.
Al Naqbi added that the security team were able to identify the members of the six-person gang,including five Isians and one European national. According to this information, a decision has been made to raid the compnay’s warehouse. The six persons were arrested and 32 cars were found. Checking the cars documents revealed that a number of them have already been in the circulars issued by the Interpol about the cars stolen from the European countries.
He pointed out investigations revealed that the said two companies have been used as a cover behind which the suspects carry out their activities together with other parties residing abroad. They steal cars from some European countries and bring them in the UAE inside containers in the form of assorted goods and car spare parts.
Investigations with(M.R) who is the prime suspect, revealed that he has recently brought four containers into the country, each contains three stolen cars. He arranged for the said deal and bought the cars from another person called (R.M) who was later known to be the mastermind for the gang’s activites in a European country, and that he was involved in such activites for many months as he shipped the stolen cars caught at the company’s warehouse.
Colonel Al Naqbi stated that the suspects, having admitted the case, have been arrested to later be referred to the Sharjah Prosecution. An extensive investigation is being made to define the exact number of cars that have been smuggled by the gang into UAE or exported abroad, he concluded.
