Abu Dhabi Police becomes a member of FINEX

  • Department of Forensic Evidence at the Directorate General of Security and Ports Affairs in Abu Dhabi Police has been approved as a participant member at the Forensic International Network for Explosives Investigation (FINEX) in the Netherlands, being the first criminal institution in the region to get such a membership.

    Colonel Khamis Musabbah Al Marar, Acting Director General of Public Security and Ports Affairs in Abu Dhabi Police stressed that any Abu Dhabi Police department joins international bodies would translate the instructions of the police leadership to follow scientific approach and the state-of-the-art methods to upgrade the security work.

    He added: The Department of Forensic Evidence of the Abu Dhabi Police, as part of the overall strategic development plans, began years ago to develop its physical and human capabilities and made quantum leaps in several areas, including forensic evidence, pointing out that Abu Dhabi Police’s excellence was a motive for many global organizations and institutions to choose Abu Dhabi Police’s departments as members.

    For his part, said Col. Abdul Rahman Al Hammadi, Director of Forensic Evidence at the Abu Dhabi Police, said that (FINEX) is one of the main working groups of the European Network of Forensic Sciences Institutes (ENFSI). It aims to exchange information and expertise among its members and develop the level of technical works and procedures of competitive quality.

    First Lieutenant Suleiman Al Naqbi, who holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from the Technical University of Queensland, Australia, is one among 20 other Emirati officers who have received higher degrees from the United Kingdom, Australia and the United States as part of the strategic project to prepare a new generation of Emirati forensic experts, he noted.
