Community Police attends a Ramadan Council in Al Rahba

  • The Community Police Department at the Peripheral Areas Police Directorate attended the Ramadan Council, hosted by Citizen Said Salem Al Qalbani in the city of Al Rahba in Abu Dhabi. The Council tackled the importance of hiking and the need for designated locations for this kind of sport, in order to preserve health and safety.

Captain Abdullah Al Harthi, Head of Community Police Affairs Department at the Peripheral Areas Police Directorate, stressed that communicating with citizens through these Ramadan Councils is part of the basic pillars upon which the Community Police work is based; including cohesion with the community and promoting trust and reassurance between the Police and community members.

“This communication provides an opportunity for discussion, proposing and discussing views by both parties in order to avoid the negative phenomenon that may arise in residential communities and try to abolish them”, he added.

Captain Al Harithi added that the Emirati society is characterized by behaviors stemming from the teachings of Islam and is subject to restrictions imposed by customs and Arab original traditions.

“Discussion and dialogue are a characteristic feature of interaction between both parties; with the aim of finding the appropriate solutions for most issues tackled during such councils”, he continued.

The Council was also attended by Lieutenant Salem Suhail Al Ameri, and Assistant Ahmed Al Hammadi, from the Community Police Branch in Al Rahba. The Council addressed a number of issues of concern to the city’s residents such as maintaining the culture of hiking in order to preserve the fitness and public health.

For his part, Citizen Said Qalbani emphasized the need to provide appropriate locations for hiking, and entertaining facilities for children and women.
Participants also proposed that such councils should be held twice a month throughout the year.

Concluding, Captain Abdullah al Harthi expressed his thanks to Citizen Qalbani for hosting this council, commending the greatness of the Emirati citizen and his support to all community activities, a feature proving the cohesion of all community members and their keenness to preserve their traditions and customs.
